Join the Nature Team on June 11 from 9:30 to 11:00 in Community Hall to hear Dr. Deborah Kravchuk, Master Watershed Steward, discuss Adams County Geology. We will study the geology of Adams County to understand how the land was formed, how it changes over time, and how it affects people living there. The county’s rocks, soils, and landforms tell the story of ancient environments, mountain-building events, and erosion processes. Learning its geology helps with practical needs too—such as managing natural resources (like groundwater and building materials), improving agriculture (since soil types come from underlying rock), and preparing for hazards like sinkholes or flooding. It also gives insight into the region’s natural history and supports land-use planning and conservation.
