Tai Chi with Tye
Discover Tai Chi you can feel and apply with Dr. Tye W. Botting. Classes blend qigong, silk reeling, and breathing with Yang style forms, partner exercises, and classical weapons, progressing toward the Chen Old-Frame Short Form. Martial roots are included to show why movements are performed a certain way, while the focus remains on health, balance, energy, and safe, mindful practice — no sparring required.
Tai Chi Foundations and Beyond: Traditional roots, modern understanding — Tai Chi you can feel and apply.
Join Dr. Tye Botting for an accessible yet comprehensive approach to Yang style Tai Chi (taijiquan). Classes often begin with qigong exercises that support mobility, circulation, lymphatic health, and mental focus. These are followed by silk reeling and breathing practices that build coordination, alignment, and energy. From there, students develop the foundations of structure, balance, and whole-body connection — skills that lead naturally into forms practice, partner exercises, and martial applications. Classes vary to keep training fresh, always emphasizing clear, mindful movement, good structure, and coordination.
Training covers the Yang long form, the simplified form, and the Tai Chi saber form, with the goal of eventually progressing to the Chen Old-Frame Short Form. Partner exercises start with grounding and feedback drills and may progress into push hands, but sparring is not part of the curriculum. Martial roots are referenced to help explain why movements are performed in specific ways, while the focus remains on health, internal strength (power and stability), efficiency of movement, and personal development. Instruction honors traditional principles while using clear, modern terms to make the practice accessible and practical.
